Time out or a short break for you

We know that caring for someone else can be hard. Sometimes having a short break, anything from just a few hours to a few weeks, can mean a lot.

Providing a break from the pressures of caring is a vital part of supporting quality of life for both carer and the person being cared for.

There are a number of organisations in Blackburn with Darwen that can provide services to help you to take some time off from your caring role. They offer information, advice and one-to-one or group support to carers and can act as a gateway to other services that can help carers to get the help and support they need.

  • Residential respite for the person that you care for, at the home of their/your choice.
  • Group meetings with other carers or organised activities.
  • Grants to pay for things like gym membership, relaxation treatments, sports tickets or outings to the theatre, or longer holidays with or without the person you care for.
