Care Network

Care Network is a registered charity that supports people in Blackburn with Darwen to live independently by referring them onto a range of quality assured services including a range of cleaning, shopping and home maintenance services such as building work, roofing, electrical, gas, plumbing and painting & decorating.

Care Network has over 40 providers (local trades people) offering services in over 30 different service areas.

Their customers include anyone over 50 years old, people with a disability, people with learning difficulties, people with mental health issues, and people who care for someone at home, but adults of all ages needing support to live independently can access their services.

Care Network ensures that all their providers:

  • Undertake DBS checks with the criminal records bureau where appropriate (these used to be called CRB checks)
  • Provide references
  • Have the relevant qualifications
  • Have adequate insurance

So that you can have peace of mind.

Cleaning services

Their cleaning services include:

  • Laundry service
  • Ironing service
  • Power washing
  • Window cleaning
  • Oven cleaning

Shopping services

They provide a range of shopping options to suit all.  These include:

  • Shopping list collection - someone can collect your shopping list and return with your shopping (costs apply)
  • Ring and deliver shops - these shops will take your telephone order and deliver to your home for a minimal charge
  • Pension collection (costs apply)
  • Groceries delivered to your door - People can order from a comprehensive range of items that are commonly needed from a weekly shop such as milk, bread, potatoes, fruit and vegetables etc.   Minimum order of £10 applies.  In addition, people using this service can also order items from a wide range of kitchen essentials such as cutlery, cleaning and household products, storage containers, toasters, microwave ovens etc.   Cost - catalogues are available on request detailing the cost of individual items.  Delivery charge - £1 if the order is between £10 and £30.  Over £30 there is no charge for delivery.

Gardening services

Do you find it difficult to keep on top of your gardening chores? If so, Care Network's gardening service will help to ensure that you enjoy the maximum benefits your garden has to offer.  Services available include:

  • Grass cutting and general garden maintenance
  • Landscape gardening
  • Tree surgery and felling
  • Hedge trimming
  • Fencing
  • Tarmacking, flagging and paving
  • Grave tending service

Home maintenance services

Care Network can provide access to a range of trades people including plumbers, joiners, roofers, builders, gas engineers, plasterers, locksmiths, window fitters, tarmacking, groundwork, electricians and painters and decorators.  All sizes and types of jobs are catered for, there is no job too small.  With a Care Network provider you can be assured that you will receive a good quality job at a reasonable price within a reasonable timescale.  

Mobile hairdressing

Sometimes it's not always easy to access your local hairdresser, or maybe you prefer not to visit a salon at all. If so the mobile hairdressing service provides a full range of ladies and gents hairdressing at competitive prices within the comfort of your own home.

Footcare services

Domestic appliance repair

Care Network offer a domestic appliance repair service which covers the maintenance and repair of all makes of domestic appliances including washing machines, dryers, electric ovens, microwave repairs and vacuum cleaners.  Most of the appliances can be repaired in the home but if the job is too big the appliance can be taken away and repaired in the workshop at no extra cost.

Satellite and TV repair service

Care Network has a provider who is a registered digital installer who is able to carry out a full aerial and satellite service. This service includes: 

  • Installation of satellite TV
  • Installation of Digital TV aerial and upgrades
  • FM and DAB aerials installing
  • Storm damage repairs

Meals on wheels and frozen ready meals delivered

Other services

The Care Network Helpdesk constantly monitors all requests for services. When they find that there is a demand for a particular service that they do not currently provide they endeavour to find a provider.

In addition the Helpdesk staff will discuss with customers whether there are any other issues they need help with. They have information about a wide range of other local services that customers can be signposted to.

Care Network is always looking to expand their range of services to promote independent living but they cannot do this without your help.  If you have any suggestions for services then please give them a ring and they will endeavour to do their best to provide appropriate and affordable services for you.  They won't know your needs unless you tell them.
